What is this place

La Cuna is a living place in the mountains of Oaxaca — a regenerative retreat center and community in the making, at 2,380 metres in the Sierra Sur. We exist because we believe it's possible to live in better relationship with the land, with each other, and with ourselves. Not as an idea, but as a daily practice.

A small, committed team holds this place — with care, with honesty, and with the understanding that it's still becoming. You can come to rest, to facilitate your work, or to stay longer and contribute. Each path is a different door into the same living project.

How La Cuna works

Regenerative rhythms, season by season

The place breathes with the year: the rainy season (Jun–Oct) is greener and quieter; the dry season (Nov–May) opens more capacity and outdoor life. These are the common spaces you share whichever way you come.

Voices

A few words from people who have been here

"I arrived tired and left slower, in the best way."— A guest, 2025
"The mountain does half the work. The people do the rest."— A facilitator
"It's unfinished, and that's exactly what moved me."— A volunteer
The project

A shared stewardship, still becoming

La Cuna is intentionally unfinished. It is held not by one person but by circles of people — hosts, collaborators, neighbours and a wider network — learning to live and decide together.

Held by circles of people rather than one person, La Cuna decides by consent, tends the land as its first community, and grows toward a broader vision in the Sierra Sur. Meet the circles that hold it, how we're organized, and what's taking shape.

Supporting organization: Cuna Project (non-profit, Austria). IT & development partner: Aramara.
